Suffolk County Courts

The majority of traffic tickets received in Suffolk County are returnable to the Suffolk Traffic Violations Bureau (Suffolk TVB) located on Veterans Memorial Highway in Hauppauge, however that will change with the opening of a new Suffolk County Traffic and Parking Violations Agency. The new court is scheduled to open in April 2013 barring any delays, and the Suffolk County Traffic Violations Bureau will close. The location of the new court has yet to be announced. It is likely it will be in Hauppauge area as well.

Others traffic tickets received in Suffolk County will be returnable to the various village, justice and town courts located throughout Suffolk County, depending on the location where the tickets were received.

Most tickets received in the East end will be returnable to the Riverhead Town Court, Southampton Town Court, Southampton Village Court, Quogue Village Court, Westhampton Beach Justice Court , and Southold Town Court.

Most misdemeanor charges such as driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license will usually end up at the Suffolk County First District Court located at 400 Carleton Avenue, Central Islip, NY, however misdemeanor offenses may also end up at the various village, justice and city courts throughout Suffolk County. Felony charges such as felony driving while intoxicated and felony driving with a suspended license will initially be heard at either the Suffolk County First District Court in Central Islip or one of the various village or town courts. all indicted felony cases are transferred to the Suffolk County Court in Riverhead.
